Deloitte is one of the “Big Four” professional services and accounting firms. It has started receiving Bitcoin payments from its Luxembourg staff who prefer to use the cryptocurrency to pay for meals at the canteen. The service is only available to employees for food payments, and it has not been extended to clients. Laurent Collet, a Deloitte advisor said that:

“We believe it’s important to have our employees evaluate this new technology.”

Deloitte is continuing its push for digital currencies and blockchain adoption with this move. Deloitte has tried using blockchain in the past for various services and projects. This has prompted the company to set up an internal blockchain team, as well as dedicated outfits in different parts of the globe. Deloitte also tried Ripple’s payment method, but has yet to fully adopt it.

Collet says that Deloitte’s focus is more on blockchain than cryptocurrency. It plans to use blockchain technology for fund management and transaction efficiency. This would allow them to make their services more seamless and eliminate the middleman. Collet stated:

“This is where our focus right now is in linking this technology with the needs for the Luxembourg industry.”

PricewaterhouseCoopers, another member of the “Big Four”, has announced that the Luxembourg branch of PricewaterhouseCoopers will accept Bitcoin payments from clients.
