United Wholesale Mortgage, a mortgage lender, will accept Bitcoin mortgage payments. The company plans to begin accepting Bitcoin mortgage payments by the end this year, according to a Detroit Free Pass publication.
Upon its launch, United Wholesale mortgage would become the first national mortgage lender to accept Bitcoin. This was stated by the CEO during an earnings call with Wall Street analysts. Ishbia said that they are also exploring other cryptocurrency options during an interview. Ishbia stated:
“I believe we are starting with Bitcoin, but I think we’re also looking at Ethereum and other options. While we’re going to walk before our feet can run, we will also be walking before we run. However, we are a leader in innovation and technology, and we strive to be the best in all that we do.
However, he said that while that is UWM’s current plan, there are few to no guarantees about its rollout.
Like other industries, the crypto-space is also being explored by the mortgage industry. Mogo, a Canadian digital payments company, announced in March that its cashback rewards program would now be available for mortgages.
David Feller, founder and CEO of Mogo, stated that the company was happy to allow customers to earn Bitcoin while offering much-needed solutions for the $1.7 trillion Canadian mortgage market.
