Samsung Electronics America, the electronics giant, has partnered up with Ethereum-based virtual reality platform Decentraland in order to open a virtual shop in the metaverse. This virtual store is a virtual version of Samsung’s 837 physical store.
This virtual store, named Samsung 837X will be available in Decentraland only for a short time. Samsung released the following statement:
“This is the largest brand land acquisition in Decentraland’s history.”
According to Samsung 837X, the virtual store will offer a variety of digital adventures. These will be offered via the “Connectivity Theatre and Sustainability Forest”, as well as an “Customization Stage,” a musical celebration. Michelle Crossan-Matos is the senior vice president for corporate marketing and communications at Samsung Electronics America.
“The metaverse allows us to transcend spatial and physical limits to create unique virtual experiences that would not be possible otherwise.”
The Samsung Connectivity Theater will display the latest news from the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and other information. The three-day event began on January 5th. Samsung’s Sustainability Forest, which is made possible by the planting of thousands of digital trees, will offer beneficiaries a magical experience. The Korean electronics company also plants trees in real life. Samsung has partnered with Veritree (a climate restoration platform based in Cardano), recently. Samsung will oversee the planting of as many as two million trees in Madagascar during the first three months in 2022 under the terms of the partnership.
The real-life Samsung 837X is located at 837 Washington Street, Manhattan, New York.
